We would like to thank everyone involved in organizing and to those in attendance at Upton Lake & Marina Open Weekend on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd September.

The Upton Lake & Marina Open weekend coincided with the Marina Berthholder and Resident Party taking place in the evening of Saturday 2nd September. We wanted to invite the Marina berthholders, floating home residents, prospective boat and floating home customers, and the local community to join us at Upton Lake & Marina and see what we’re all about.

So, what did we get up to?

Scheduled visits

The marketing team worked hard to ensure the message was spread across Upton-upon-Severn and surrounding areas in the build-up to the event, culminating in 62 people signed up to visit across both Friday and Saturday.

There was a keen interest in the waterside lifestyle, be that in a boat or a floating home, with a positive generation of new leads.

Unscheduled visits

Given the timing and coinciding with the berthholder and resident party, existing berthholders and residents at Upton Lake and Marina joined us to see what we have been working on for the last 2 years and have discussions about our plans for the site and future investment.

We received lots of great feedback about recent progress made and a feeling of positive times ahead for all.

The support by local communities visiting the Wheelhouse on-site bar and restaurant, Severn Expeditions positive messaging on social media and Taco Banditos strong food following, ensured a continuous flow of people throughout the day to explore Upton Lake.

Local business support

Local business Taco Banditos travelled from Worcester to sell mouth-watering Tex Mex street food to customers, attracting further people down to the site on the day which was a big hit with everyone.

Our on-site river experts, Severn Expeditions, joined in on the fun conducting multiple enjoyable river excursions throughout the day.

Charity raffle

We hosted a charity raffle throughout the weekend in aid of Grief Encounter, a connected charity of the Tingdene Group that helps bereaved children and young people.

Prizes included a stay in a floating home, tickets to a Gallagher rugby premiership match (supplied by Gallagher insurance), a boating excursion down the River Severn with Severn Expeditions and a variety of food and drink hampers.

We raised £111 and the Tingdene Group has matched all donations, meaning a total of £222 was raised towards helping this great cause!

What next?

The whole weekend was a really enjoyable, fun and worthwhile experience showcasing the connection and steps we are trying to make to bring together various aspects of the business including on-site teams, marketing teams, sales teams, Waterfront Living and Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales. A big thank you to everyone.

We had amazing numbers in terms of visits for an open day which has typically not be seen since pre-covid times.

The conversations held with visitors and potential customers were to varying degrees, but some customers were coming for their second and third visits which is extremely promising. All the hard work in the build-up on the day even led to a deposit on a floating home leaving the team in great spirits!

No doubt, more open days to come for Upton Lake and Marina as we continue to progress the development in 2024.
